New week —> New Vendor Spotlight!
Speaking of new, there’s talk on the street that there’s a new kid in town - The beautiful venue, Kalico Creek! Owners Clay and Kaley are two of the sweetest and most down to earth people we’ve ever met and they’ve created a cozy and romantic space tucked away in the piney woods. Inside you’ll find a highly flexible, open floor plan with huge windows that let in tons of natural light. Doors on all sides open onto a wrap around porch overlooking an outdoor ceremony area with a natural stone arch. The 200 capacity venue is surrounded by towering pine trees and a vast, serene pond.
I asked Kaley her favorite thing about weddings:
“I love seeing the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time, coming down the aisle, just before they say their “ I do’s”…and seeing them commit their lives to each other before God, all their closest friends and family members!

Kool Kakes by Dylan

Here it is! The newest Vendor Spotlight -->
Kool Kakes by Dylan is one of the most innovative bakeries we’ve ever worked with. Dylan and his team can construct just about any design you dream up with intricate detail and care. (Don’t believe it? Watch him crush the competition here).
Underneath those magical designs and creations are some extra tasty flavors like his delectable Red Velvet (my personal favorite!), which made me wonder “What is Dylan’s favorite cake flavor?”
“I’m surprisingly not a huge cake fan, which I think makes us unique because the flavors I come up with aren’t what you would typically serve at a wedding and that makes it special. I do love our white almond cake, which is the most classic and definitely a crowd pleaser! But for flavors with more flair, I'd pick cookies n cream or our red velvet filled with our signature cinnamon cream cheese!”
Check out all his incredible designs on Facebook and Instagram and when you’re wowed and amazed like we know you will be, make sure to click those like and follow buttons!

Pop Quiz - Do you know why china is called...china?
The answer is the country but today’s vendor spotlight is all about the dishes.
While owning a complete set of wedding china may be a thing of the past, using this beautiful dinnerware to serve your guests at your wedding is certainly not!
There are lots of really great one-stop-shops to rent dinnerware from alongside your tables, chairs, and linens, but Longview based JK Rentals actually specializes in china, finding and collecting the most beautiful sets then mixing and matching the pieces to create completely unique place-settings and color palettes.
So I asked Kim, who owns JK Rentals with her husband Jim, what colors she loves to see at weddings. Her answer? “A mixture of soft pastel colors. I like variety, which shows in our china selection. Each color and pattern is beautiful but when it's mixed together with other colors it sings to my heart.”
Check out their gorgeous pieces on their website and social pages and make sure to like and follow!
(P.S. Look up the history of china. Really! It’s super interesting!)
Alison Faith Photography

These days just about anyone can create awesome photos with a few taps and clicks on their phone. But the photos that are undeniably special - the ones that make you stop and catch your breath - don’t exist because of editing and filters. Truly gifted photographers are a special kind of human. They have beautifully creative souls who see the world from a different perspective and capture glimpses into that world to share with the rest of us.
When I first met Alison Faith, I could tell she was one of those people. Her soul shines through so much that she glows and you can see it in every picture she takes.
I asked Alison what always catches her “photography” eye at a wedding? And she answered, “It’s the little moments that catch me by surprise. The ones everyone else might not see happening. The ones the couple may otherwise not remember. Like when the bride’s mom gets teary eyed watching the father-daughter dance, or when the flower girl steps into the bride’s shoes when no one’s looking, or when the groom catches his grandmother during the reception for an extra hug and a kiss on the cheek. To me, those moments are the most special because they weren’t done for attention or for photographs - they’re just so genuine. Those moments deserve to be captured forever!”
See some of those special moments in her work on her website and social pages. And of course, make sure to like and follow!

Hair by Haily Hargrave
Posted on April 12, 2021
Bridal hairstyle trends have changed throughout the years as quickly and often as wedding gowns. These days all trends past and present are equally popular, from the traditional updo to the newest braided boho styles, and finding a hair stylist that can do it all (and do it exceptionally well) can be hard to find. Having a connection with a stylist is equally important. With even the most skilled stylists, if the connection isn’t there, sitting in a chair for an hour or more making small talk with a person who doesn’t make you feel comfortable and beautiful can be highly stressful.
Enter Haily Hargrove - a small town girl with big city style. Not only is she well versed in all things hair, she’s committed to making the experience enjoyable and the bride feel her best.
I asked Haily, “What do you love the most about doing a bride's hair?”
“I love doing bridal hair because there’s something so special about a bride choosing me, out of all the stylists out there, to make them feel beautiful on their big day.”
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re looking for that stylist you can feel 100% comfortable with on your big day. Visit her website and social media pages to see her amazing work and of course, like and follow!

Debbie the DJ
Posted April 19, 2021
What is it that makes for a great DJ? A good ear for rhythm, an excellent sense of timing, extraordinary interpersonal skills, and the stamina and energy to motivate people all night long. DJ’s have the incredibly difficult responsibility of setting the mood for an entire event, almost completely by themselves. But that’s no big deal for Debbie The DJ. Always full of energy with a smile on her face, Debbie specializes in reading a room and making sure everyone is having a great time with the help of her wide variety of music, from big band to today's hits. My question for Debbie was “What is your favorite dance and why?”
“Dad / daughter. Dads try to hold it together. Some do, but most don't. How often is it that a dad dances with his daughter? Maybe when they were babies. That dance brings up every emotion and memory of their baby girl’s life up to that moment. Ugh I’ll tear up just writing this.”
Debbie’s personality is infectious and I know you will love her! Visit her website and check out her social media pages - and then like and follow!

If you’re searching for a stunning venue for your wedding with the perfect sunset view, look no further. Boasting the tagline “Outrageously beautiful and actually affordable,” Sunset Oaks owner Amber McKinney has transformed this older venue into one of the most sought-after event locations in East Texas. I asked Amber, “What is a unique thing about your venue, and what do you love most?”
Amber: “The unique features of Sunset Oaks are the stunning sunset views of rolling East Texas hills and the five roll-up doors that open to convert the space into an indoor/outdoor oasis. We love serving our couples and offering them hundreds of decorations to borrow at no charge!”
